FAMILY CENTERED DESIGN
family centered design noun
ˈfam•(ə)•lē/sen•tərd/dəˈ•zīn
definition:
family centered design is a non-profit program focused on helping families and education systems learn human-centered design principles in order to create more sustainable and effective improvements on childhood education.
program leaders: mansi kakkar, sarah flores, diana chun• learning designer: jon axtell• visual and brand designer: rita liu
I was brought in to work on this project for Family Centered Design by a learning design agency, Creature Learning. FCD was a new program within a design-oriented education non-profit; they wanted to build the visual brand from the ground up. I spend the first few weeks gathering information from FCD about their vision for the brand, and conducting research into competitive spaces, and put together these moodboards.

FCD decided they wanted a fun and zine-style approach to visual branding - with this direction in mind, I got to work on developing a color palette couple different illustration styles for them to choose between.

I also developed a custom font to achieve the hand-lettering effect that FCD wanted:

0123456789!@$&()
After all these decisions were made, I worked to finalize brand guidelines and designed and illustrated brand collateral, logos, and other digital assets that FCD needed. Here is a small sampling of that work:
